| Sailor MoonR movie: Promise of a Rose...
To start this story: To those who don't know, a turning point in young Darrien's life was when he was a small child, he was in a car with his parents. This car is accidentally driven off a cliff road. Darrien's parents (Mr. and Mrs. Shields if you will) are instantly killed, leaving poor Mamoru-san an orphan. What could be worse is that he completely loses his memory, and is taken to an orphaniage hospital room. One night Darrien/Mamoru-san (dub and Japanese names) leaves the hospital in the middle of a storm. He incidentally runs into a small alien boy facedown in the street. We learn his name is Fiore, and that he has been wandering space for as long as he can remember. He came to Earth to rest. Darrien and Fiore have a hidden friendship (I guess mamoru manages to hide Fiore in the hospital for a time) and because of their sorrows, they become extremely close friends. As we see, Fiore cannot stay on Earth because 1: he can't survive in Earth's atmosphere for any lenght of time and 2: it's just TOO HARD to hide an alien on Earth nowadays. Anyway, on the day he was to go, Mamoru brings him a rose bud (ever wonder why Tuxedo Mask/Kamen throws roses? This is why) to remember him by. Fiore leaves telling Mamoru one thing: "Someday, I'll bring you lots of flowers..." We fast forward to the present with Darrien thinking about his childhood. We find our him with our heroes at a greenhouse (a day off from fighting crime i guess =[.]=). They trade the usual amusing lines (yes, Chibiusa is here too) and they go outside and LO-AND-BEHOLD guess what? I think Serena puts it the best: "DARRIEN!!! LOOK!!! It's raining ROSES!!!!" Fiore comes back wishing to speak with Darrien, promising he has finally found a flower worthy of him. Usagi becomes protective and jealous of Fiore, knowing nothing about him, as it is vice versa for him. Mild cat fight between the two of them, ending up with Usagi on the ground and Fiore gone. This has the scouts shaken up and we cut to a later part in the movie, wondering what to do about it. (minako makes a comment in the original about how Mamoru seems to oddly attract many men, lol, but i don't remember if it's kept in the dubbed). This is a filler moment to a later part in the movie pretty much. This scene just proves how clueless the scouts are as to "is this a NEW monster-of-the-day?" *LATER* Our heroes minus Mamoru are downtown as Raye pickes up some strange vibes. PEOPLE ARE BEING DRAINED BY PLANTS OF THEIR ENERGY AND BEING TURNED INTO ZOMBIES!!! ahh. Well, cool fight scene, scouts get hurt more than usual (compared to dub anime). We also find (actually, Chibiusa is kind enough to find it for us) a plant that becomes a wacky wild spider thing AND Fiore. Fiore does the famous scene of his contracting claws and Mamoru does HIS famous "where's waldo?" moment (see the photos page). Putting things bluntly, Mamoru is stolen away, literally, by Fiore. SCOUTS??? WHAT WILL WE DO? Cutting to the chase, Scouts use sailor teleport to get to go find Darrien and Fiore on a floating astroid of doom with lotsa flowers on it, Pow, Blang, Clang, Ouchy go scouts, Sailor Moon with few options, we learn Fiore is being possessed by the "worthy flower" from Darrien: the Kisenian Flower (the flower feeds off of weak hearts and shares a symbotic relationship with it's host) and the astroid is COVERED with them, mamoru wakes up from a DBZ healing chamber thingie, big fight, you relize how much the Kisenian Flower warps poor Fiore's mind, we learn how SM is connected to Fiore as a child (can I say "aww?" it really is a sweet moment), some more punching fighting, and FIORE KILLS SAILORMOON!!!!! NOOO!!! (ooo, spoiler...) cause she was trying to save the Earth, SM is brought back to life by Fiore in the end as Fiore offers to give up his life to save hers if it will make Darrien happy, everyone goes home happy and alive (except Fiore, who dies, and Chibiusa, who didn't leave the planet in the first place) and that is the end. All this AND at one point in the movie Chibiusa points a gun at Usagi! (a fake one, stop your cheering SM haters! lol j/k) If this seemed confusing, well, it is. Go rent, watch, buy the movie tape or DVD (which I hear is VERY good cause it got more stuff on it) and figure it out yourself. The Ginzuishouru turns into a cool flower! Really! Go watch the movie and I'll work on this movie description more. |
